At Yoink, I want to build a place where people can grow to their full potential.Įven if you are not the "standard IT-person", or don't have a degree in Computer Science, you can still be a great developer. Whether it is to simply answer a question, help a colleague understand something, coach a younger developer or explain a concept to a larger audience, sharing helps everyone involved. To me, sharing knowledge has always been of great importance and even a source of energy. Some games work just fine over webcams and beers and wine can be shipped around the country.Įven after showing clients that remote work can be just as productive, I can't wait to organize board game nights, sporty activities, back-yard BBQs, R&D days and regular drinks or lunch at the office. Social gatherings were mostly online, but even then there is room for fun. Under normal circumstances, we would have been able to do all sort of fun activities, but COVID forced us to be creative. Fun can be found in many activities and should be promoted on a wider scale. I believe work without play is a sure-fire way to numb the mind. Centered in Java and the other JVM-languages, we have a strong presence in the market as well as the community. On March 1st 2020, I partnered with OpenValue and launched Yoink, a new IT consultancy company focused on fun, knowledge sharing and sustainability.

After being a freelancer for over 10 years in the Java/JVM DevOps world, I was looking to build something that was more than just me. Last year marked the start of a long-standing dream. With our challenge to grow in front of us, it is high time to introduce Yoink to the world. Yoink was founded as part of a dream to build a group of professionals, ready to push themselves, their clients and potentially the world to a higher level. After what was no doubt the weirdest year on many fronts, it is time to look forward.
